    Gambrinus
To the Czechs, their locally produced beers are a national treasure with the most popular beer being Gambrinus. Other locals will tell you that the best beer is Pilsner Urquell, with Czechs from Pilsen insisting that the superiority of their water quality, in comparison to beers produced in other regions in the country, is reflected in their Pilsner. That said, a pale lager known as Kozel’s Medium won the best Czech beer prize in 2008.

    Akropolis
You can watch local acts perform at the beautiful Akropolis art deco theatre that hosts indie, avant garde and world music bands. Some of the local talents to look out for include ska masters Sto Zvirat, Moravian folk rockers Cechomor and Lucie, the political anthem-mongerers. If you are into jazz and blues, go to the Lucerna Music Bar on weekdays; for fresh unrecorded rock, reggae and jam nights, Vagon is just the place to be.

    Divadlo Minor
In Prague, puppet shows are not just for children. In fact, puppetry as an art in the Czech Republic has had a long and sometimes subversive history. Be sure to catch a high-quality puppet show featuring Czech puppeteers and productions at the progressive and lively Divadlo Minor. If you really enjoy the show and want to own your own puppet, you may purchase one at Truhlář Marionety.

Dominating the city skyline, Prague Castle features a medley of styles and influences that reflect the dynamic needs of its inhabitants and conquerors over the last millennium. Central to the castle are the dramatic Gothic spires and flying buttresses of St Vitus Cathedral, whose grandeur is certain to stop you in your tracks.
